AKA DR. FREUD BANANA, since 1971. Dr. Banana has juggled her time between graphic design activities which include the production of stamp editions, and creating/producing interactive performance/events and publications such as VILE magazine, Banana Rag, and Artistamp News. A member of the artist group Specific Research Institute, she parodied scientific research with works such as "Proof Positive Germany is Going Bananas" (1993), and "Bananas in Distress" (1998). Her works aim to question authority, and engage audiences in a creative acts. Most recently, "Banana Splitz", her interactive parody of a Game show, presented at the Banff Center (12/2001), does just that.

Nach Auslaufen eines Postgraduiertenstipendiums freiberuflicher Betrieb eines Alexander-Antiquariats- und Antiquitätenhandels in Herne-Baukau.

INGRID VAN KOGELENBERG

* 1958 in Schoten (Antwerpen, Belgium). Finished Sint-Lucas Artschool in Antwerpen in 1980 (graphic arts). Influenced by the art and the ideas of the Cobra mouvement she makes colourful paintings with chinese ink and acryl on paper. The creatures in her drawings are half human, half animal. The paintings can be seen as pages of her diary. In 1991 she is introduced in Mail Art by Baudhuin Simon. He is the one who teaches her how to carve stamps. Ingrid van Kogelenberg works as a graphic designer for the Antwerp theatre Company Theater Zuidpool. "Biocolori": These handcarved stamps were made for the exhibition "Biocolori". A group of Belgian and Italian artists works together on a project about Italy. What I draw is not what I see, but what I imagine to be a mediterranean country . I want tocreate the atmosphere of the old Italien stories. I think about the Medici family, the Commedia del arte, nice little towns with old architecture and beautiful nature.
